When Lidiya went into labour, she thought all of her wishes were about to be fulfilled.
"Congratulations, you have given birth to a beautiful baby boy,” said the nurse. All the sweat and pain had been worth it.
But then she noticed there was something off though. Her baby was not crying! Doctors immediately took notice and before Lidiya could even hold her boy, the doctors admitted the boy into NICU.
After some time, the doctors walked in to talk to the terrified new parents.“We are sorry, your baby has severe Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy and he will take time to recover. We need to shift him to intensive care immediately.“I don’t understand, what happened to my boy?” Lidiya asked, confused".
“He has a brain disorder due to a lack of oxygen,” the doctors explained further.
Lidiya broke down and could not fathom the thought of something happening to her child. Nikhilesh was heartbroken after hearing the news. But the parents knew they had to fight for their child.After being transferred to the NICU, Lidiya stayed with her baby and Nikhilesh tried to arrange money for his baby’s treatment.
He wondered - "Where will I go to get the money? I only earn Rs 12000 per month, where do I get the rest of the money from?" Their baby needs months of treatment in the NICU and this will cost Nikhilesh Rs 3,20,000 ($ 4290.98).
As a mechanic, he works day and night to cover the cost of the treatment and their daily expenses. Fixing car after car and drenched in sweat, Nikhilesh cries at the thought of losing his baby.
